SPI Convention

In 1991, Sports Philatelists International inaugurated an international convention attended by sports and Olympic collectors from around the world. Conventions are held at American Philatelic Society national level shows around the United States. Attendees are treated to special outings, guest speakers from the sport or Olympic community, philatelic talks, and a bourse of dealers with material for every level of collector. In addition, the conventions provide an opportunity for exhibitors to compete for national level awards with a view toward qualifying for international, including Olympic, exhibitions. A special SPI Best-of-Show trophy for the best Olympic or sports exhibit is awarded by the jury, as are Best-of-Show certificates for One-Frame, Youth, and Novice exhibits.

Our most recent SPI convention was held at INDYPEX 2012 from September 28-30, 2012, where SPI celebrated its 50th Anniversary! The special show theme was a celebration centennial of the 1912 Stockholm Olympic Games and its most famous participant, Jim Thorpe. A special show postmark and SPI cacheted cover are available.

The show palmares is available here.
